Celebrating Five Years with Serenity

Today marks the five-year anniversary of purchasing Serenity and the successful culmination of our retirement plan. As we sit inside Serenity, parked in my daughter’s yard for the week, we’re reflecting on this journey before heading back to Biloxi for the final house clear-out.

When I last wrote, we were gearing up for our garage sale while Serenity was back in the shop. Unfortunately, the mechanics couldn’t pinpoint the issue with the propane system and concluded that we needed a new fridge. Before they could move forward, someone from the warranty company had to inspect the fridge to determine if they’d cover the cost. As of last Friday, we still hadn’t received a decision, and although we needed Serenity for our trip to Louisiana, we never got the expected call. So, for now, the fridge replacement remains uncertain—one way or another, we’ll need to get a new one! I might even need to set up a GoFundMe—just kidding (mostly).

The garage sale went well, though, as expected, not everything sold. The remaining items will be donated to charity. Some of the bigger pieces were posted on Facebook Marketplace, and a few have already found new owners. There are still some left, so I’ll have to decide what to do with them.

This week is packed with celebrations—graduations and my grandson’s wedding. Next week, we’ll return to the house for the final clear-out and cleaning before getting it painted and ready to rent. Almost all our belongings are now in Serenity, except for food. Figuring out where to store everything has been an adventure, and learning to navigate the space without constantly bumping into each other has been even more entertaining! Thankfully, we’ve both lived tiny before, so we’re hoping the adjustment won’t take too long.
